Interesting times

As I'm typing this our office is shrouded in darkness and silent without the hum of airconditioners and printers. We've just entered load shedding Stage 4. Meanwhile we are obsessively washing our hands while muttering "Happy birthday" under our breath. There is a curse which states "May you live in interesting times" – isn't this ironically apt at present?

We can't protect you against Eskom or the coronavirus, but we will protect you against digital threats. The Outlook security measures we recently implemented is a step towards protecting you from spam and phishing. These changes will challenge your current work methods and are difficult to adapt to, but it is already making a substantial difference to our security.

In the meantime, stock up on soap and candles and let's hope next time you receive this newsletter things will look a bit brighter (literally and figuratively speaking)

Reactivate your network access
Network access for staff will expire at the end of March unless you reactivate your username. We suggest that you reactivate as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted access to IT services
IT maintenance: 27 to 30 March
We will be conducting scheduled maintenance on various components of the IT infrastructure over the weekend of 27 March and some downtime can be expected.
Additional Outlook function activated Recently we activated an extra layer of security called Exchange Online Protection. Since the implementation some email ends up in the Junk mail folder. We explain why.
