THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK

It's almost tax season and together with the occasional legitimate SARS email, emails posing as official SARS correspondence are sneaking into sun mailboxes. Staff and students fall prey to phishing scams on a daily basis, compromising accounts and the entire university network.

The responsibility lies with you to be vigilant and think twice before clicking on links and divulging your username and password. Keep in mind that if your account is hacked, your network access will be blocked and your devices scanned. This will cause quite a bit of inconvenience – something we want to avoid.

Are you unsure how to to recognise a phishing email and need advice? Let us know at bitsbytes@sun.ac.za
