We hate being wet blankets, but today's newsletter might come across as slightly preachy and cautioning. Why? Cyber criminals are growing smarter, sneakier and even more determined.

We continue to fall prey to hackers via phishing attempts, in spite of countless warnings and guidelines. But let's start with good news first.

One password less
We have good news for everyone struggling to remember a plethora of passwords. Soon there will be one less when we simplify AIS/Tera Term's login procedure.
It wasn't us
Last week two new phishing e-mails, seemingly from IT and the library, were distributed on campus within only 24 hours. Please note that these departments did not send them.
272 million e-mail addresses hacked
On Wednesday the Internet was abuzz with news of a Wisconsin security firm obtaining a database of 272 million e-mail addresses, with their associated passwords, from a Russian fraudster.
