Die vrae bied 'n mens die geleentheid om bietjie oor jouself lewe en ervaringe te dink.

"Vrae en antwoorde in hierdie vraelys is redelik wyd - wat gaan dit statisties vir julle wys? Statistiek gaan nie die US se swakpunte verbeter nie. Dis nie 'n fabriek waar julle kwaliteitbeheer moet toepas dmv statistiek nie. Maak die plek beter deur deel te word van studente se lewe. Vrae vrae soos: "" Wanneer laas het top bestuur ingesit in lesings? Wanneer laas het Russel Bothma sy kantoor verlaat en 'n draai tussen deur die studente gestap en vir ons gevra hoe gaan dit? Wat dink jy kan ek verbeter aan hierdie instelling?"" Mense se ervaring is dit wat hulle self daarvan maak - jy kan kies om die beskibare meganismes en hulpmiddels te gebruik. Maar as daai meganismes ""useless"" is gaan mense dit nie gebruik nie. Dan moet die meganismes en stelsel herontwerp word ipv verbetering. Iets wat duidelik deurskemer in hierdie vraelys. Vra eerder vrae soos: Wanneer gaan hierdie universiteit verantwoordelikheid aanvaar en 'n waarborg gee dat as 'n student x hoeveelheid geld betaal y hoeveelheid tyd spandeer aan 'n vak dat hy/sy 'n z% punt vir 'n vak sal kry. Hierdie universiteit voel 'n veer vir sy studente - die plek fokus meer daarop om geld te mors op hoe sy naam en beeld na die publiek lyk. Vrae my eerder vrae oor wat dink ek van hierdie universiteit se beeld my ervaring van hierdie plek as vrae soos wil ek 'n gemeenskapsleier wil word - dit het niks met hierdie instelling en sy pligte te doen nie."

Dit net nog een van vele vraelyste wat weekliks ge-epos word aan studente.

Die vraelys is deeglik. Ek is egter baie ontevrede hoe senior studente benadeel word deur die universiteit net om voornemende studente te akkomodeer. Hierdie is met verwysing na die verwydering van parkeering vir die bou van nuwe koshuise.

Ek verstaan nie hoekom enige imand wil weet vir watter maatskappy ek gaan werk nie. Niks met enigeimand te doen nie.

Van die vrae is so bietjie persoonlik. Sal graag die opsie wil he om anoniem te bly en net 'n selnommer te gee indien mens die prys wen.

Dit is nogal volledig en relevante vrae. Almal behoort dit te doen want dit laat mens so bietjie dink oor sommige goed.

Dit is baie gedetaleerd. Dit voel darem asof die vrae relevant is vir my as finalejaar student

Dis baie lank maar dis tog baie deeglik. Dit sal interresant wees om die statistiek van die vraelys te sien na die tyd. Die vrae wat gevra was het my self ook laat dieper dink oor my eie self-kennis.

Baie goeie idee. Het van die vrae moeilik gevond om te andwoord aangesien mens moet dink oor jou hele 4 jaar van swot. Verder baie relevante vrae en ek het dit geniet.

Die is omvattend en dek 'n bre?? area van 'n student se lewe. Ek sou ook graag vrae oor koshuislewe en die bydrae wat dit gemaak het tot my ontwikkeling sou kon beantwoord omdat dit 'n kardinale rol gespeel het in my ontwikkeling op Stellenbosch.

Te lank en onnodige vrae

Dit behoort vir die universiteit te wys watter aspekte van hul dienste kan verbeter.

Die belangrikste kwessie vir my wat die universiteit sleg maak word nie hier bespreek nie. Ek dink ons dosente is by verre die beste in die land maar ons basiese dienslewering by Admin A is sekerlik die swakste ter wereld. As die universiteit nie mense aanstel wat toeganklik vriendelik en behulpsaam is nie voorspel ek moeilikheid. By watse ander plek in die wereld betaal jy so baie om dag na dag soos 'n hond behandel te word!

Die vrae wat gevra word is goed maar soms sal ek wil uitbrei op my antwoord net om dit meer duidelik te maak. Ek is seker die vraelys sal n betekenisvolle bydrae kan lewer vir toekomstige studente i.t.v. hul studies/ omgewing...

Meeste van die vrae is baie relatief tot finalejaars. Die beroeps lys kan bietji groters gemaak word met meer spesifikasies. Daar kan miskien nog vrae bygevoeg word om al die modules relatief tot elkeen se program te bespreek.

"Daar is baie van die vrae wat dieselfde ding is en dit help nie om dit net anders te gaan vra nie. Ek moes die 2 keer doen want as jy dit wil indien dan werk dit nie. Daar is baie vrae en neem dit baie tyd op wat ons nie ALTYD HET NIE!!! Daar word ook nie gevra hoe die BComm mense voel dat ons NOOIT NOOIT NOOIT NOOIT NOOIT ons rekenaar sentrum kan gebruik nie omdat ALMAL ANDERS op kampus daar klas kry nie en wanneer jy daar kan werk werk die printers nie en lyk die plek soos of daar varke was wat klas daar gekry het daar word ook nie gevra oor hoe ons oor die bib se slegte tye en toestand van die bib gevra word nie daar word ook nie oor die parkeering gevra nie en of ons dink of daar nie eder meer studie plekke wat 24/7 oop is gebou moet word voor daar nog koshuise gebou moet word nie. Daar is nie vrae oor kampus sekuriteit nie. Daar is nie vrae wat vra oor hoe ons voel oor die baie bedelaars wat jou pes van een klas na n ander klas toe nie daar word ook nie gevra oor die ""crime"" op kampus nie. Ek dink dit is eder vrae wat gevra moet word."

Dit is goed. Die rassevrae handel slegs oor hoe jou siening verbeter het maar nie waar dit was voor jy na die Universiteit toe gekom het nie. So as ek klaar 'n goeie begrip gehad het het my siening dalk nie verbeter nie maar kan dan gesien word as 'n mislukking van die universiteits se bewusmakingsveldtogte.

Nie al die vrae het sinvolle antwoord opsies nie. Alhoewel daar baie vrae is oor ras is daar nie oor gelykheid onder verskillende geslagte nie

"Daar is gese dat dit vrywilig was. Maar toe ek nie reageer nie toe word ek ""one-to-one"" gekontak en het half gedwing gevoel om die vraelys te doen.|Ek gee nie om om sulke vraelyste in te vul nie (nou en dan) maar ek het nie tyd gehad nie en toe ontvang ek die tweede email wat hul `n mens probeer sleg laat voel het. Teleurgesteld en ontevrede."

Dit het my regtig laat reflekteer op die tyd wat ek op die Universiteit was. Ek het nuwe insigte ontwikkel oor die kennis en vaardighede opgebou. Dit het my in 'n mate ook laat evalueer watter persoon ek is en wat ek ag as belangrik en wat nie. Baie goeie reflekteringsvraelys.

Ek dink dat dit oor die algemeen 'n goed gestruktureerde vraelys is.

Dit was goed opgestel en dalk nie te persoonlik nie. Ek is net vrek ongeduldig en verpes dit om hierdie goed in te vul. Ten minste het ek meer selfbeheersing oor die jare ontwikkel en weet wanneer om myself te oorreed(forseer) om iets te doen.

Dit het my ook weer laat dink oor aspekte wat my soms verby gaan of waaroor ek vir 'n lank tyd nie aan gedink het nie. Dit het my 'n geleentheid gegee om werklik te dink oor hoe ek myself sien in vergelyking met ander mense en dit het my ''AMPED'' gekry om in my volgende studie jaar meer betrokke te raak.

Dit is baie lank maar dit is omvattend en dek meeste van die aspekte van my universiteits ondervindinge.

Sommige vrae was so dat ek nie my presiese antwoord kon gee nie want die opsies was net te veel na die eenkant of net te veel na die ander kant toe en nie 'n neutrale opsie nie.|Ek werk en swot ook maar met sommige vrae kon jy net een ding kies so kon nie so akkuraat beantwoord nie.

Dis nodig om te weet hoe elke student verskil en ook hoe hul die universiteit bevind. Dit help die universiteit om te weet waar hul sekere aspekte kan verbeter. Daar is ongelukkig sekere aspekte wat nie deur die vraelys gedek word nie bv. die ervaring met IT-dienste parkering probleme veiligheid op kampus ens. Dis belangrike dinge waaroor baie studente ontevrede is.

"Kan dalk onderafdelings bevat soos ""Is jy betrokke by enige gemeenskaps organisasies? Indien wel antwoord X-Y indien nie gaan voort na Z"". So iets...andersins goed uitgel??."

Goed geformuleer kan beter gestruktureer word.

Ek dink die vraelys is relevant tot alles wat ek tot nou toe by die Universiteit ondervind het. Ek dink ook dit is nodig om terugvoering te kry van finalejaars - om die nodige verbeteringe aan te bring tot die Universiteit om dit nog 'n beter univesiteit te maak as wat dit reeds is.

Baie van die vrae is irrelevant - jy kan nie 'n gevolgtrekking maak bv. met die hoeveelheid ure 'n sekere persoon studeer nie - sommige rigtings vereis nie baie studie tyd nie. Dink die vraelys moet meer spesifiek gewees het.

Die kombinasie van vrae was interessant. Dit laat my besef dat die universiteit regtig belangstel en probeer om krities na sake te kyk.

Sou graag vrae wou sien oor my mening oor die universiteit se prioriteite - bv. dat daar gepoog word om soveel as moontlik studente op kampus in te prop - sonder enige verdere inagneming van studieruimtes of logistieke probleme soos parkering op kampus.

Dit is hopeloos te lank sal baie meer doelgerig ingevul word as dit nie so baie vrae is nie.

Van die vrae oor godsdiens maak nie sin nie. Dit voel of daar nie ongelowige mense in aggeneem is nie. Dit hou lank aan maar het my laat besef ek is 'n negatiewe persoon.

Vraelys is goed gestruktureer en dit beteken dat dit nie te veel tyd neem om te voltooi nie.

Dit benoem aller aspekte van hedendagse lewe

Ek sien nie die relevansie van sommige van die vrae nie. Stel liewers 'n lys op waar die student sy graadprogram as geheel kan beoordeel sodat dit in die toekoms verbeter kan word.

Baie goed dit maak net nie sin om te vra of ek tevrede met my verblyf is as julle geen idee het of ek in 'n koshuis woonstel of by my ouerhuis woon nie.

"Ek glo dat rassisme omgekeer het. Daar word beurse en werke gegee aan ""previously disadvantaged"" groepe terwyl baie wit studente met baie beter akademiese resultate benadeel word hier deur. My woonstelmaat is 'n kleurling en ek is amper elke naweek by hulle huis (net om te verduidelik dat rasse-verskille my nie steur nie) so die rasse-kwessie is nie eers relevant in my lewe nie behalwe as dit kom by werk soek en daar op sommige aansoekvorms nie eers 'n opsie is vir wit mense nie. Ek glo dit is nie meer wit mense se siening/uitkyk wat moet verander nie maar die teenoorgestelde. "

I think this was a very valid questionnaire with regards to the current issues facing students.

I'm pretty sure that whatever would have come of it will dissolve into more meaningless meetings 'initiatives' that exist only as publicity (i think 3 students know what the hope project actually IS) and more talk.

I think the UNiversity and South Africa in general are too worried about race. Its always a question on everything. Its been 20 years since proper democracy and if you keep bringing race up as an issue it will never go away. Its like a scab it you scratch it it wont heal

Good qustions asked to get a feel for personal growth

It made me think about a lot personal aspects that I have not really given much thought about.

Important - the questionnaire takes into account your role in society. Question 22 - A dietician is not the same as a home economist!

i would have liked a neutral option for question 17 but i enjoyed completing the questionnaire and thinking about and evaluating these aspects of my life.

Too many questions it can be made shorter somehow

Some questions were vague and didn't allow one to be critical enough of such as the career guidance exhibitions offers nothing for BA neither Bsc students but only for B.comm and B.eng students

Feel it can be useful if more questions or comments are asked on the usefulness of what the university is doing - certain programs are a waste of money and should rather focus on academics than racial integration which happens anyway whether enforced or not.

The questionaire encourages self reflection. It should maybe be used to identify individuals that may have problems and possibly help these individuals.

I think one can not ask the habitual questions spanding over a year. People have different patterns whereby they have been slcaking at a certain point but regain their work ethic. The questionnaire should in some cases (like when asking about the jobs) allow for one to choose more than one option. I am still deciding if I want to do Politics or History as a honours programme. It should also provide reasoning as to why one thinks one has or does not have a balanced life. It should also ask about the issue of racial discrimintaion and if one of a certain race feels one is restricted or discriminated for example I believe that the shuttle service is an indirect form of discrimination that prohibits on the performance of the coloureds and blacks who generally use it.

These are crucial questions being asked! It's imperative that these questions are asked and discussed but actions speak louder than words. More action and less fiddling is required to change this world for the better!

some of the answers that were provided do not pertain to the questions e.g. if the more appropriate answer was yes or no and the only answers provided were frequently occasionally or often. Also especially in questions such as 14 i fear that if i were to answer questions such as have my skills in public speaking changed? with: no change because i have always been good at public speaking then there will be the misconception that i have not improved my skills and have a negative connotation.

The questionnaire is to vague on some aspects and doesnt focus properly on very crucial aspects. Such aspects include; affirmative action changing social environment changing of university language etc

The questionnaire was good. I enjoyed answering the questions. I would like to hear feed back from the questionnaire though in some kind of form of other students or something along those lines. There was however nowhere that we could specify why we are/were dissatisfied with various aspects that were mentioned therefore only indicating that there is a low satisfaction level but no reasoning making it difficult for the university to improve accordingly.

I found that this questionnaire was difficult to answer as the medical program is unique in terms of training and assessment and the options provided did not take that into consideration.

I feel that more varied leadership opportunities (including 'smaller' leadership positions) should be made available. It asks the correct questions to make the needed deductions from of each indivudal and can be considered sufficent feedback.

Some aspects of the questionnaire are too broad. For example I have had a few wonderful and encouraging lecturers but at the same time I have had one or two rude and degrading lecturers.

It is a thorough questionnaire that covers most aspects of the average student life.

Very thorough and to the point. I would like to see more challenging questions of the kind in Question 17. Otherwise questionnaire was quick and easy to fill in.

I noticed there were no options to answer 'non-applicable' or 'unsure'.Probably this was to accumulate quantities faster but it may not give the most accurate answers.

I think this questionnaire is appropriate for self-reflection at the university and own personal life and future plans.

It helped me to identify my weakest and strongest points as a student past experiences and in finding the solutions of past circumstances and of course the driving force within me that kept on pushing all those years until final year.

The facts that English student get taught in Afrikaans and that Afrikaans students have English textbooks need to be considered by the uni. "My only critique would be that some questions should allow for multiple answers. E.g. careers you see yourself following or what you see yourself doing in the next 5 - 10 years. It might also be beneficial to have some questions follow with an explanation by the student. E.g. ""Did you feel lonely/depressed the last year""; a brief description of why the student is experiencing the problem could benefit researchers interested in knowing what problems students are facing at the moment. "

It is insightful. Some more questions could be asked concerning the diversity and culture of Stellenbosch University and where it's heading. Final years generally have a better understanding of these issues since they have been here for a longer period.

"Some questions aren't specific enough one could agree but not in the apparent intended sense of the question. For example in question 17: ""The government should do more to control the sale of fire arms."" One could disagree with regard to sales to civilians but also believe that they should do a lot more to control the ""disappearance"" of firearms and the existence of illegal firearms used in crimes. Otherwise I think this is a good metric of the personal evolution of individuals going through university."

It seems comprehensive although the questions for number 17 seem disjointed and irrelevant to the stated aims of the questionnaire.

It definitely asks about a wide range of topics that made me think a few times about aspects that sometimes don't come up or something I don't always think about. Was interesting.

It was interesting to see what I have accomplished in the years that I have studied here. Often importance is placed on academics or marks but it is great to see how I still have managed to live a balanced life.

Some fields could be more specific - for example whether we should know about the private lives of public figures I disagree in terms of celebrities but agree strongly in terms of politicians as far as it concerns using taxpayers' money

It does not concentrate on WHY on any of the questions.

The infered meaning of my responses particularly in question 14 imply that the University is responsible for these developments or changes in my character- this is not necesarily the case.Case in point: my ability to get along with people of other races has not changed since being at the University because I am white and grew up in a neighbourhood in Natal with many black and indian friends and was allready acustomed to interacting with people of other races a university environment has neither developed nor hindered my racial views. ||Question 12 examines various aspects of the lecturer's assistance to students the responses available are not necesarily an accurate reflection of my personal situation and often the lack of support is simply due to a lack of my engagement with them seeking support.||I feel that this questionare places too much emohasis on inter racial issues as does the university as a whole. I am aware that the current state of interacial acceptance among parts of society is not as it should be but I do not believe always citing it as a problem that needs to be dealt with is going to reslove this matter I gew up in a small neighbourhood that was a beautiful example of the rainbow nation; my weekends were spent playing soccer at a church field across the road with other bllack and indian guys from around the neighbourhood and I grew up completely ignorant of the racial divide that still lingers in this country between so many this became apparent only when I left highschool such was the bliss of my childhood. Not clear WHY the information is needed how it will help/contribute in the future. Otherwise well structured easy to understand not too long or time consuming. Consider getting a mobile questionnaire in future that can be used on mobile phones. :)

I think generally it is a good idea but many of the answered questions have very good explanations which are againts the expected answer provision should be made for explanation.

The questionnaire was was well set up and the questions will lead to feedback on the Unversity whether it be positive or negative. I understand it is difficult to continually update the IT infrastructure but the systems are struggling to accomodate all the students.

They should differentiate between black colored and white racial discrimination because whites also face major racial discrimination and prejudice contrary to popular belief. All should be treated equally. Furthermore affirmative action and the diversity should rather focus on how to improve academics and not how to employ more black people. It should be a standard of employing the best regardless of race and gender to strive to be a better academic institution not a diverse institution.

This questionnaire really questions one if he/she did enjoy his/her stay in Stellenbosch. The responses should be used to make Stellenbosch a better place for all and try to understand student's life.

A few gray areas but I do keep in mind that it is difficult to set up a perfect questionnaire.

Very insightful. I've been struggling with Major Depressive Disorder and now have a few things to think about.

Often felt my answers may be misunderstood. Like for example my projects are mostly longer than 19 pages so I could not indicate that anywhere.

I didn't think it was that long. It also wasn't as annoying as I thought it would be. You might want to change the time limit as it could put people off. :)Really glad Stellenbosch makes an effort to improve its services.

I feel like this questionnaire along with most others are meaningless to those who fill them in as the results are never sent out or advatised as aggressively as the questionnaire. Seems a bit wrong. Surely the results are a big deal?

Please do something with this information and implement change because the engineering faculty specifically is archaic impersonal and the lectures are selfish. There is no personal development leadership and guidance

One of the topics (Affirmative action in university admissions should be abolished.) I strongly agree with above every other. My capabilities as a student should have nothing to do with my race as lowering the standard for certain races will bring upon a bad name for this university and the level of education will drop as the university will have to give a specific race an advantage over others which is not right! Who is to say that other factors such as gender will not play a roll in the future if race does? |P.S. Stellenbosch is GREAT!!

It's a great idea to see how people who have had the complete Maties experience feel; their perspective on life after Stellies and their reflection on this whole experience. I think it will assist in bettering the experience of other fellow Maties who follow.
