The annual membership is:

  • R160-00 per person
  • R75-00 per student

Use your surname and initials for reference purposes and send the notice of payment to:

R15-00 of this fee goes to the South-African National Association of Visual Arts to ensure national and   international contact.



Benefits of membership

  • Interesting talks on art during regular members meetings.   The guest speaker is usually an artist or art expert.
  • Opportunity to attend workshops presented by the Arts Association.  With every workshop an attempt is made to sponsor two or more talented members from the community.
  • Opportunity to exhibit at our member’s exhibitions.  This is managed by a curatorial team, either in collaboration with SU Art Museum or the P J Olivier Art Centre at Stellenbosch.
  • Discount on art materials at a number of art dealers.
  • Membership of SANAVA includes:
    • Residence for artists in one of the three studios in the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France.  Artist members of branches may apply through SANAVA for a sojourn of two to three months.
    • Membership of the International Association of Art (IAA), a non-government world organization associated with UNESCO.  A benefit of this membership is that artists, curators, art administrators or art historians may apply for a museum card valid for international art museums as well as South African museums.
    • Access to the ABSA Atelier Art Competition and Exhibition for young and upcoming Artists
    • Branch members are also informed of national art competitions such as the annual SASOL New Signatures Competition.
