The primary function of the Undergraduate Bursaries and Loans Division is to award and administer bursaries and bursary loans according to stipulated criteria. In this process every effort is made to reward academic excellence and to provide financial support to needy students to enable them to study successfully.

The process of awarding bursaries is very widespread and includes the following specific functions:

• Attending to queries from students, parents, companies, and sponsors

• Guidance and financial planning advice to students

• Administration of bursary funds – internal funds as well as external bursaries from companies and sponsors

• Drawing up of bursary budgets

• Advertising of available bursaries/loans (in the official calendar, on the website, on notice boards and electronically to students)

• The secretariat function for the Bursaries and Loans Committee

• Management of official information sessions
